A September 11th Wedding in New York.
If you look closely, you can see balloons being let off into the air, over the Manhattan Bridge: each balloon holding a note written for the happy couple, wishing them love on the journey they began on this once (and still)-infamous day. There were several weddings in DUMBO this past Saturday, a perfect September day; and despite all the hatred going on around this country, ostensibly begun on 9/11, when I saw those well-wishing balloons flying overhead I was grateful for a new way of remembering this day.
The way we used to remember it: as a day we can come together and love.
